Under Construction Update

photo.JPG
I feel like I have gotten really behind the past couple of weeks with updating about the new house. It has been so busy lately!! Thankfully, I officially worked my last night shift last week. I will only work days from here on out. I think that will give me much more time and ENERGY to stay organized with everything, including my blog.

The house is steadily progressing. From the outside, it seems not much has been accomplished. But, the inside is moving right along.

Progress:

  • Plumbing all in
  • Windows all in
  • Electrical wiring all in
  • Insulation all in
  • Brick/Rock on exterior is currently going up

photo.JPGThe sheetrock starts on Wednesday! So we will be painting before we know it! Thanks to my wonderful husband, we feel confident in saying we will be in the new house by Christmas. What an awesome Christmas gift! We are truly blessed and thank God for those blessings daily!!

Down, Set, Hut...

Boys will be boys..

What can I say? I love the boys in my life. They always keep me laughing and there is certainly never a dull moment.

Parker is extremely lucky to have such a good daddy. Michael doesn't care if he has worked all day and barely gotten any sleep the night before- he will ALWAYS make time for a little fun with his main man.

Lately, backyard football has become one of Parker's favorite activities. He always ask to play; he even asks me... Obviously, I am not as fun as Michael is, but I give it my all! Michael has taught Parker several different "plays" and how to catch the ball to take off for a touchdown!!! It won't be long until we are cheering him on from the sidelines of a football stadium! He is growing up way too fast!

These are a few pictures from tonight's backyard scrimmage. I am so lucky to have such incredible men in my life!

Hey Cowboy!

If you know Parker, you know he has had a lifelong obsession with horses. Ever since he saw the movie Spirit for the first time, he has been simply amazed by a horse. I feel guilty to say that, even with my Uncle Bruce having a pasture full of horses, Parker has never had the privilege of riding a horse himself. Sure, we go to Bruce's barn and pet the horses when we have a chance, Parker has been to the famous Dixie Stampede and seen horses doing amazing tricks, and we have bought every toy horse that has been made. But, none of that compares to the joy of seeing him ride a horse for the first time.

Bruce has offered numerous times to saddle one up for Parker. Unfortunately, conflicting schedules have never allowed it to happen. However, Parker's friend, Miller, celebrated his 4th birthday on Sunday, and he had a horse for all of his friends to ride at his party! What a great idea!!! All of the children loved it!

Dixie was such a sweet horse. She did amazingly well with a backyard full of three and four year olds. Parker rode her several times and was just as excited as the first each time. We are so thankful he finally got to see what riding a horse was really like!!

Under Construction- Week 5

We will finish this house.. We will finish this house...

Five weeks? That can't be right. It must have been longer than that since we started this whole process...

Things are progressing more steadily now than it seemed they were at the beginning. But, the demands of a move before Christmas are taking a toll.. on Michael. He loves everything about the construction process. It is by far his favorite thing to do. Unfortunately, working a full time job, spending every spare second working on your house, and listening to your wife pester you about when it will be finished.. is just no fun!

Michael is, of course, taking it all in stride! He doesn't complain, he doesn't get stressed, and he doesn't even dread working on the house. He is amazing. You would think I was the one doing all of the work. I complain, I tell him I miss him, and I beg for it to be over with in a blink of an eye. Unfortunately, that isn't likely.

What we have accomplished in week 5:
  • We have plumbing
  • We have electrical wiring
  • We have windows (all but 4)
  • Our roof is COMPLETE
  • The back patio is covered
  • Our exterior doors are ordered
  • Stairs are in
  • We have bathtubs

I am more than satisfied with the progress made in week 5. I know things are moving more swiftly than we could have ever dreamed. Unfortunately, patience is a virtue. I am working on it. I have said it a million times, but I couldn't be more thankful for my hard working husband!
